Baritone EXTRAORDINAIRE and music director

Jorge Chaminé is a baritone for Music for Peace, a music organization that promotes and supports the idea of peace through inspirational music. Mr. Chaminé has been involved in the music industry for more than 40 years. He began when he was a young child and his passion steadily progressed throughout the years. As a baritone with the organization, Mr. Chaminé sings and teaches music in Italy, Canada and Paris, and gives master classes in the United States, Brazil and throughout Europe. He also works as an ambassador of music for Music in Middle East, as president and artistic director of the CIMA Festival in Tuscany, pedagogical director of ateliers "Sons Croisés" in Paris, and as the artistic director of Bougival Festival in France. Throughout his career, Mr. Chaminé has mastered different styles of music, including opera, operetta, zarzuela, oratorio, new music and art-song repertory.
Mr. Chaminé attributes his professional success to his mentors and the musical talents he has worked with, including Lola Rodríguez de Aragón, Hans Hotter, Daniel Ferro and Teresa Berganza, as well as the various conductors he as sung for, such as Seiji Ozawa, Yehudi Menuhin, Claudio Scimone, Michel Corboz, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and Placido Domingo. In the coming years, Mr. Chaminé would like to create a European musical center, and write a book.

Mr. Chaminé was born with music in his blood. At the early age of 4, he began singing in an all boys choir, played the piano in public a year later, and became a musical sensation at age 12 when he received a soprano role in a Portuguese opera. For the past 32 years, he has established a career as one of the pre-eminent recitalists of his generation whose passion is evident in every performance. He has steadily progressed in the industry, becoming a stellar classical cellist, playing in a jazz group and earning awards for his acting abilities.
Mr. Chaminé’s international career has brought him to the world's most prestigious stages and concert halls, making him one of today's most innovative and sought-after soloists. He has performed with famous orchestras such as the Boston Symphony, London Symphony, Czech Philharmonic, Berlin, Gulbenkian Orchestra, and Ensemble Intercontemporain. He also loves singing Tangos, Fados, Cole Porter's melodies, Hebrew liturgy, gipsy songs, Boleros and Bossa Nova. Mr. Chaminé also performs original pieces and music written specifically for him by renowned composers.
Mr. Chaminé is a polyglot, speaking French, German, Italian, Russian, English, Spanish and Portuguese and singing in 10 languages. He earned a law degree at the University of Coimbra. He is an active community member who supports various causes, works with autistic children, and performs concerts in hospitals and prisons. In recognition for his work with children, he earned the Medal of Human Rights from UNESCO.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Chaminé enjoys reading, going to the theater, and acting.
